Have any of you had amnio before your c-section for lung maturity? How far in advance did you have the procedure? My doc said they'd ideally do it day before (for a 37 week delivery), but now it looks like I might have to have the c-section on a Monday and the amnio the Friday before at 36w 5days. Will this make a difference?
Curious about other people's experiences!
Re: Pre-C-Section Amnio
I had my amnio last Monday @ 37w1d and my son was born Wednesday. It *shouldn't* make much of a difference unless you are diabetic. My OB said there only seems to be lung issues if you're diabetic/GD. I was told the lungs were "very" mature, whatever the F that means lol. Legally, at least in our area/NJ/our hospital whichever, we have to have an amnio done if delivering before 39 weeks.
Good luck. Amnio was not a big deal at all!

That isn't true. I am not diabetic and my daughter was born by RCS at 38w4d. She ended up in the NICU for 2 weeks for immature lungs.
Rather than risk the complications (and needle stick) with an amnio, if your dr is planning an early RCS maybe just getting the steriod shots would be the easier solution.
I will be having a RCS at 37w2d and after discussing all of the options with my dr and a MFM we decided just having the steroid shots a few days before delivery was the best option for me. It can only help. Just a thought.
