For me it was between 5-6 hours total from when they started the pitocin, but the contractions were nothing to write home about until they broke my water, after which time it was only about 2.5 hours. I was also 4cm dilated for over a week by the time I was induced- so that may have helped.
My sister's induction (at 39 weeks due to her GD), took over 24 hours. Her body was a lot less ready than mine.
And my mom (who had a history of fast labors- she didn't make it to the hospital with me) was induced with my little brother and she said her labor was well under an hour!
It seems to vary greatly from person to person. Good luck to your friend!

about 10 hours from when they started the cytotek. (but the cytotek was just supposed to get me ready, true induction was scheduled for the next morning but I ended up not needing it!)
Trying to recall the timeline. Was scheduled to start at 7:30 am...was actually at least 9:30 in reality. Iv pitocin. Broke my water around 12:30. Started feeling like really bad cramps around 2:30 followed sometime by the contractions just far enough apart to try to catch my breath. Stella was here by 5:50 pm.

From the start of pitocin to when she was born was about 8 hours. They broke my water around noon and then had an epidural right after. I was at a 10 at about 2:20-2:30 and she was born at 2:44.
I had a great induction, it really was a peice of cake!

We only needed to use pitocin (so I didn't have to stay the night before), and the contractions weren't uncomfortable until after they broke my water. That's when things got intense! They were all happy and healthy at 37-38 weeks.
About 38 hours... Tried every trick in the book but the kid was not budging! My BP got too high and his HB took 1 too many dips and off for a C Section we went

32 hours...started with Cervadil. He was already 12 days overdue, and wanted to stay.
Once the Pitocin started, it was only about 11 hours.
