Narrow width baby shoes? and another shoe question

Anyone seen/heard of these anywhere?  Google is not coming up with much.  Her feet are so long and skinny.  They measured her as a 5.5 at stride rite yesterday but all the shoes look like boats on her little feet.

Also, when did your LOs adjust to walking with shoes on?  She's somewhere in between first steps and walking everywhere.  She can walk across the room but she still crawls as her primary mode of transport.  When I tried the shoes on her yesterday she was tripping all over them while I was holding her hands and walking.  Should I just wait until she is better at walking to try them again?  She has literally never worn shoes other than for about 20 min on her birthday.

  • Not sure about question 1....but maybe try a different brand? DD fits pretty well in Pediped Originals, but I have to order them online because we only have a Stride Rite store locally.

DD started walking about a month and a half ago. It took her several days to adjust to wearing shoes because I did not put any on her until she started walking. Since she learned to walk, I've only put her in the soft-soled moccasin style shoes, but she did trip over them for the first few days when she kept trying to look down at them while walking. I let her wear them in the house for a little bit to get used to them before I took her outside in them.

  • I'm not sure about #1 either. Did the people at Stride Rite think that the shoes fit fine? Or did they agree that she needed a narrower shoe?

When Julia started getting very mobile she started wearing soft/moccasin style shoes at daycare when they would go outside. Socks all other times. Once she was taking lots of good steps I took her to Stride Rite and got her some early walker shoes. She did seem quite intrigued by them at first, but I don't remember her tripping over them much. If I were you, I would wait for Evie to get a little more confident in her walking before trying out 'real' shoes.

  • I'm of no help on #1 either.  However maybe try the Robeez mini shoes.  Those don't seem too wide on Ty!

As for walking and wearing shoes - I've been putting Ty in shoes since he started even looking like he was going to take steps.  In the beginning they were the soft sole moccasin type shoes (a pair of Robeez we were gifted when he was born!)  I did this primarily so he was learning to walk with something already on his feet, but not really getting in his way.  Once I started putting harder sole shoes on him he'd just started actually walking, and it only took a few days to get used to it.  I'd imagine though that if the shoes are too big that it'd be tough to walk in them, especially while getting used to walking in general!  I have a pair of Chucks for Ty that are a little too big, and he struggles a little with them and he's a very confident walker/runner already.

Well, the people at Stride rite thought they would be ok with socks, but they didn't have sock she could try them on with, and I hadn't brought any.  I think the thicker soles were part of the problem too.  I think I might get some with softer soles like pedipeds or preschoolians and see if I can get a better fit with them.

    Thanks for the other feedback!
