HOW DO YOU DO IT. i hold her to get her sleepy/comfort her, then i place her down, and it's obviously not mom anymore, and she isn't cool with it. and this is for naps, not bedtime. bedtime is okay it seems. it's the daytime naps that are hard!
So glad to hear we aren't the only ones...what is the solution? I was starting to think it was because he wasn't getting enough to eat, but if you all are going through this too, perhaps its not...
I am having the same issue and it is so frustrating. When she does not nap she is really fussy at night because she is exhausted. So some days I end up holding her for hours! I dont know what to do. My DH says just keep trying to put her down but I cannot get anything done if she is wide awake all day!
When she is sleeping in my arms I move one hand under her head/neck and the other to her bottom. I do this VERY slowly and I shush her whole time. I slowly lower her in to the bassinet while shusshing and just lay her down still on my hands. I keep her like that for a little but and then slowly pull my hands out. and by slowly i mean literally one finger at a time lol It's an art really.
*edit*
When i do this i usually la her down on her side sort of. her back is pretty flat but her face is to the side and sometimes her legs are off to the side too
i do not know. everytine i lay her down she freaks out like shes falling off of a cliff
LOL! i know EXACTLY what you are talking about hahaha
Ditto. He flails his arms out like he's falling. And, we have the same issue...night time its fine but during the day he knows exactly what I'm up to!
haha YES...it's like when you are in that half-asleep state and your body suddenly twitches ("the falling dream")-- DS looks like that constantly when you set him down. I've found that if I have white noise going and I set him down, but leave my hands under him for ~30 seconds before removing them then he settles more often than before...
I have to let LO pass out on my chest until she's fully asleep. Her breathing pattern changes. THEN and only then, I can move her to her RnP. If I get antsy...and move her early...she wakes up and I have to nurse her to sleep all over again. Ugh
I can't vouch for how well this works just yet, we just tried it for the first time last night, it seemed to work, but one night does not make a success. Tonight could be a complete bust.
While I did the nighttime feedings last night I put a heating pad in LO's crib on medium. When he was ready to go back to bed I removed the heating pad, checked to make sure the bed wasn't too hot to touch his bare skin and laid him on the warm spot. It cools very quickly, but I think it takes away the shock of moving from warm mom/dad to cool crib mattress. He is usually fussy right after I put him back down and both times last night he went right back to sleep. I'm hoping this actually works and last night wasn't a fluke.

I have noticed when we are not home, its better.
