I have an OB appt tomorrow and I'm scheduled to get the Rhogam shot..but hubs and I are both A-...so why do I need the shot? I'm honestly curious, because biologically our baby can't be positive for the blood protein since neither of us have it in our blood to give to her.
We both give blood regularly and are positive we are A-, anyone else go through this? Is there something I'm missing?

yep, it's estimated that 10% of babys biological father is not the person the mother claimed. So they don't want to take the chance.
I think since being Rh neg is associated with a recessive gene, OP is correct. I know it's NOT the same for couples who are both say O+ because they can both have the recessive gene (like my parents... I'm O-). So, no harm in asking your doctor.
On the other hand, if she really thinks you need it, then I would get it. They would rather be safe than sorry, and I'm sure for a few moments of discomfort, you would too.
I'm A- and DH is O- and I've refused the rhogam each time. I was asked to bring in his blood donor card to verify, but they didn't even look at it this time around.
