So my son is 4 months old and just found out I am pregnant again! That means that I have been pregnant since he was 3 months old and they will be a little less than a year apart!! This was not planned lol has anyone gone through this how was your pregnancy and recovery? Thanks so much ladies
Re: Irish twins!!
Welcome and congrats!
Mine aren't quite Irish Twins, but we only missed the cutoff by a few weeks. I think having them close made the pregnancy easier in ways. It was nice to have a baby on 4 naps a day who was content snuggling on the couch with me and who couldn't crawl during first trimester. He was still on 3 naps even towards the end of my pregnancy which made it nice so I could get lots of rest. My recovery was rough (though it had nothing to do with closely spaced pregnancies but from complications after delivery) but we got through it. It was worth it though because they are so close and love to entertain each other, which is making my life easier now.
We are ttc our 3rd, and I am a whole lot more terrified of surviving pregnancy with two active toddlers!
Congrats! Ours was planned, but we were still surprised. The pregnancy was harder but it went by super fast. Until the third trimester to be honest I would forget I was pregnant most of the time. Our Irish twins were #2&3, and #3 definitely was hard during the end but a lot is because you'll have a crawler or walker you are trying to keep up with right around the time you get huge. You also might feel like you spend half your life in either the OB or pedi office at times but it's worth it! Personally I think recovery is specific to each delivery- having them close isn't the impact as much as just the delivery. Hopefully you can have someone stay home with you a couple of weeks though to help with the older baby.
Oh and be prepared to hear a lot of "are you crazy?!", "you're going to have your hands full", and "you do know there are ways to prevent that, don't you?". Luckily though most of that is out of everyone's system by the third trimester which is when I would have been most likely to want to punch someone for their comments.
Congrats and best wishes!
DS #1 and DS #2 are Irish Twins as well (9 days shy of exactly a year). I think my second pregnancy was easier although I was more tired and had different pains (ie. back pain). DS #2 and current pregnancy will also be a year apart(Irish Triplets I guess.) I have to say while the pregnancy has not been bad this time either, chasing after an almost 2yo and almost 1yo, I am very tired at the end of the day. We were very surprised with PG #2 and #3 as we really were not trying, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I love how close my 2 sons are and how they are starting to play together.
As far as recovery after #2, I think the recovery itself was easier, but if you have some help it makes it so much better. I was told that I was not to lift anything heavier then the new baby for at least 4 wks so it made things more difficult with my older son (getting in and out of the crib, highchair, etc).
Congratulations and good luck!!
