3rd Trimester

Cervix Position

I went to the doctor last week (36 weeks) and my doctor couldn't find my cervix. She said it could just be her and I should get a second opinion so tomorrow at my appointment I will be seeing a different doctor. My doc didn't seem to concerned she couldn't find my cervix but definetely wanted some other people to check and see what they found.

I was just really confused and didn't ask any questions about my cervix and just kind of walked out the appointment. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, can you dilate or is this not a good sign?

Re: Cervix Position

  • It is likely she couldn't find it because it was still really far back. It will move forward closer to time for you to deliver.

  • My cervix was far back at my last appt so she didn't check the dialation. She was searching for it and it was painful for me....so she said that she wouldn't torture me haha.

And I'm the same way...i don't ask questions and then I leave my appt and think "I should've asked her if that was normal" lol.

  • My cervix was very far back at my appt on Monday... she told me to make a fist with both hands and put them under my hips... Once I did that she was able to reach to check dilation/effacement, it wasn't uncomfortable at all.

  • Well I went to the last appointment with the new doctor and she had me put my fists under my pelvis and my cervix was still to high to reach. Aw well :/
