I wanted to labor at home as long as possible. But, I am beginning to have second thoughts. I know the risk of uterine rupture is very low. However, my personality is very worrisome. So, I am thinking of going when I am having contractions every 5 min for 2 hours. What are your plans for this?
Re: When do you plan to go to the hospital?
My midwife and doula both recommend laboring at home as long as possible. My doula would ideally like me to show up at the hospital when I'm 7-8cm and just about ready to push the baby out.
On a side note, I find it entertaining/annoying how hospitals insist on fetal monitoring for safety, and at the same time encourage you to labor at home as long as possible where there is no way to be monitored. Obviously it's not THAT vital or they'd all tell you to get to the hospital immediately.
