6-week growth spurt?

What exactly is the 6-week growth spurt?

DS is 6 weeks and we noticed that he is suddenly screaming sometimes instead of his normal angry cry. It only happens for a second or two, but it really catches us off guard. Like a bloody murder scream for a second and then it is over. Also, he just started spitting up after his meals this week. Last night he spit up a ton all over me. I think it was 3 AM.

Other than the spitting up and sudden screaming occassionally, that is all that has changed. Does that sound like the 6-week growth spurt? If not, then what is it?

Re: 6-week growth spurt?

  • A 6-week growth spurt, or any growth spurt for that matter, can be first noticed when your baby all of the sudden needs extra feedings. It will seem as if that''s all your baby is doing, eating! He will wake up more often and won't be able to go very long without the next feed. Your situation doesn't sound much like a growth spurt but perhaps some gassiness.
