August 2012 Moms

So Here is Emma Lee's Birth Story. =]

Finally got the toddler down to sleep (Whom I must say isn't takng this whole new baby thing so greatly. :( )

and Little Emma is dozing in her Rock & Play beside me. <3

Sooo I'm not going to go into the story of why I got inducted, it's a whole different story on it's own.

Anyway.

I went to my 39 week Appointment on the 15th. Little Emma Lee wasn't due until the 18th. For some reason the Doctor Suggested we induct that night at midnight. I was shocked to say the least! I was Dialated 1cm Possible 2cm.

So my mother and I rushed home and packed mine and little Emma's Hospital Bags. My mom rushed a few hours away to grab my dad who would be watching my 22 month old and ill grandmother while I was in the hospital, because my mom refused to let me do it alone. (Emma's daddy couldn't make it because he is in the Army and stuck in Germany for two more weeks).

I tried my best to get 3 hours of sleep in, especially since I hadn't slept the night before. But of course... everything was against me getting any rest. Toddler wanted to play all night long, the dogs who never bark decided to bark every 3 seconds for hours. So I told myself... I guess this is preparing me for what's to come. Lol... No sleep!

I had set my alarm for 11:00 so we could make it there by 12:00. I was laying in bed mad I couldn't sleep, just to look at my Alaram and see that I had "Over slept" even though I hadn't slept at all! It was 11:40@! Oh EM GEE!

I shot out of bed. And tried my best to get ready quick enough.

We got to the Hospital at 12:05 P.M. on August 16th, 2012.

They quickly hooked me up, to find I was already having pretty regular contractions and Dialated to a 2-3 cm.They asked me if I felt them, and honestly this time around I felt nothing but period cramps coming and going.

I always wondered why people compared contractions to period cramps. Because with my first, contractions were full strength as soon as I started having them. The pain was unbarable. This time around... they only felt like period cramps. Thank GOD! Lol.

They hooked me up with Pitocin and came in every 30 minutes to up the dose.

By 8:00 that morning Nothing was really happening. Same old Period Cramp contractions. My Doctor came in and asked, well... do you want to have a baby or not? They were suprised the Pitocin wasn't working. They said they upped my dose 19 times, and no progress minus the fact I was now at a solide 3 cm.

So the Doctor said she had a meeting to go to, and would be back to check my progress and then we would concider breaking my waters.

By the time she returned I was 4 CM and decided to break my waters at 3:00 P.M. . She informed me I could have any pain medicine I wanted as soon as I asked. Because I was the only person giving birth that night, I had it all good! lol.

Needless to say. Literally that VERY next contraction I had after she broke my waters... Holy HECK! Those Contractions I soo painfully remember with my first, came on, and came on strong and quick! I was in tears (yes Im a cry baby) within seconds. Every two minutes they came. I was begging my momma to take them away. And saying "No no... please don't come back" as soon as I felt them building up. Lol.

I had an AMAZING nurse in there who was trying her best to take my mind off of them. She had 3 children all natural. I kept crying out... "I don't know how you did it" Crying

And she would do this thing where she would put all her weight on my legs and rub. It helped me get through quite a few... but unfortunately. I was begging for an Epidural within 20 minutes worth of contractions. But I had to take in a liter of Fluids before they could give it to me, since Epi's lower your blood pressure. So 15 minutes later the Anesthesiologist came in.

That guy.... I could have beat the heck out of if I wasn't in so much pain and he wasn't the one holding my golden key to no pain. I couldn't have had someone more rude in my life. I'm not going into details. But my great nurse who was holding my hands while they put the needle in said he had said something, And I looked up at her with rage in my eye's like I could have gone back there and put a whoopin' on him.

All I kept thinking was' "This man doesn't have a damn clue what it's like giving birth and he thinks he can belittle me for being so upset during contractions"

I really want to go back and beat him. Lol. uhg.

Anyway..

just so everyone knows... EPIDURALS ARE AMAZING! :)

Pain went away within a few minutes. Could feel my legs, but no contractions.

So from 3:00 P.M. to 5:30 P.m. I went from 4 CM to pushing baby out. At 6:41 P.M. Little Emma Lee Was Born.

Pushing was very difficult when I couldn't feel the contractions, not even the pressure from the contractions. Luckily they stopped the epi and gave me a mirror down there so I could see what muscles helped push baby out. Near the end, I could feel some pressure, and realized everytime I coughed baby would come out more and more, so I started using the muscles I use when I cough to push baby out.

P.S. (TMI)

I totally pooped when giving birth. I tried so hard to poop everything out before labor... it just didn't work this time around. It didn't phase my great nurse... but the other two nurses had to keep leaving and I even heard one of them gag as they walked out. I was very embarrased. but oh well. I'm sure if I was them I would be gagging too. I have the worste stomach ever. All that matters is Emma Lee is here. :)

Just to show her off again
