Cloth Diapering

Flip Diapers

Hi there,

I'm new to cloth diapers but have a question. I'm about to invest in the Flip diapers after doing some research, but I'm a little confused as to what actually goes IN the Flip diaper? Is the Flip a pocket diaper? Does this mean I would use ONLY inserts that are made by Flip? Or would I use prefolds with them?

Thanks!!

Re: Flip Diapers

  • Hi!  We just started CD about 2 weeks ago and use Flips.  They are not a pocket diaper, really they are just covers with little flaps in the front and back to help keep the insert in place.  You can use Flip inserts or prefolds.  We use both.  The GMD prefolds with the red edge work nicely on the medium and large settings on the Flips.

  • I've read about the red edge prefolds fitting on M and L settings.  Which size fits best on the S setting?

  • I have a flip cover. They are versatile! When we used prefolds early on it even went over those. Now I use it over a fitted occasionally. They also sell flip inserts. It's essentially just a cover that you can buy their brand inset for if you desire. It's stretchy and my favorite PUL cover by far.
  • The Flip is not a pocket - it's an AI2 (basically, a waterproof cover and whatever you decide to put inside it).  There are Flip-specific inserts you can buy, and that's what I prefer, but if all of those happen to be dirty, I put a prefold in the cover and it works just the same.
