Adoption

So, I'm a little annoyed

...and I don't know if I'm overreacting.

There was an article in our paper today about how veterans are pushing for more IVF coverage for soldiers who have returned with injuries that prevent them from fathering children. There was a quote about how "this is often the only way for them to have a family." I was annoyed that there was no mention of adoption as a way to build their families, and no mention of the adoption tax credit or any other help for vets to adopt.

  • The same (or nearly the same) article was in my local paper.  I didn't even think about it not mentioning adoption, probably as it's not an option for some people, for whatever personal reason.  I just felt glad that finally some people are getting covered for IVF.  I would have wanted the same when we were going through that (especially bc it didn't work!).

  • We are a military family and I think it will be nice for families to have it covered. We did one cycle and paid out of pocket. My husband and I are glad we couldn't conceive bc we have been blessed with the most beautiful, perfect baby boy and we wouldn't want it any other way. God had his plan all along.
