what is it about these videos???

To help LOs settle down for nap time I've been putting them in their swings with a baby einstien video and they are always in a trance watching it! Only once in a while does something seem to spook them and they cry for a few sec's. Its made life so much easier for me since Im usually alone with them for nap time, they get to a point where I can take each one at a time, nurse a little then put them to bed for a nap, its awesome! I just can't figure out what is so amazing about them no other cartoon type thing does this for them only baby einstein!  Anyhow if you have trouble getting LO to settle for a nap I'd give these videos a try

my DD loves baby einstein, and has since she was about 2 months old. i thought they were a godsend too.

then someone on TB posted a link to a TED video about babies watching videos, and it causing all sorts of ADD and the such.

we have since cut down dramatically on how much she watches them (usually only the lullaby video before bedtime). since then, she's started playing more with toys, and little games, and her speech has improved quite a bit.

they are nice to get the dishes done, or have some down time, but i limit them now to only "emergency" situations and bedtime.

I thought tv wasn't a big deal (didn't sit her in front of it but  didn't care if she watched) until I watched it.

I gota watch that video now, thanks for the info. I dont think they are making them more smart however its helpful that it calms them down and gets them drowsey so its easier for me to get them down for a nap alone, just alot harder with two tired babies. maybe I'll have to find another way
