I am still giving them mostly purees. Sometimes they get some cut up bananas or avocado. They don't do great with picking up the food and actually getting it into their mouth. Most of it ends up in their laps. Should I try to do more of the finger foods so they get used to it? I don't mind feeding them the finger foods and they do great with chewing it, but shouldn't they be practicing their coordination?? They have no problem picking up larger items (toys and teething rings, etc) and getting them into their mouths without my help. Should I be worried they can't really pick up the bits of food? I know a lot of questions, sorry. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Re: Finger Foods vs. Puree
My girls are pretty bad at all the other finger foods but for whatever reason do great with the "mum mum" cracker things. Maybe it's because they're bigger than the puffs and sturdier than stuff like banana? I've been trying to work on this with them more the last few days... hope it goes well!

Bananas and avocado are pretty slimy, and don't lend themselves to being picked up easily.
Why not try cheerios, puffs, dried yogurt bites, and other dry foods? They'll be able to practice their fine motor skills, which is that pincher grasp between pointer finger and thumb.
