Not feeling LO move as much... :(

Last night I went out for dinner with DH and as the night went on I realized that I haven't felt LO move around as much as he usually does. When we got home I laid in bed waiting for LO to move around - he finally had kicked once or twice but he is usually extremely active at night. I fell asleep a little worried waiting for the morning to come and hoping to feel more movements. When I had gotten up to use the bathroom my tummy was hurting and has been hurting ever since (like a stomach ache). My LO still has had minimal movement. I am scared and not sure what to do - It's Saturday and I am out of the country until next week, very far from my doc and even more scared if I have to go the the hospital here... :( Also, I am FTM and 25 weeks pregnant, is this just a transition stage in my pregnancy where LO is sleeping more or should I be concerned?!?

Re: Not feeling LO move as much... :(

  • i would try not to worry ( i know easier said than done) but there is still lots of room in there for LO to move around and at this stage they sleep for about 12 to 14 hours a day, LO might have shifted to face your back or s/he was a night owl and kicked while you were sleeping. im almost 28 weeks and there are some days that he is just lazy (father like son Big Smile.) but try drinking some cold o.j. and lay down on your left side for a little bit, if your still worried make a trip to an urgent care of ER to ease your mind a bit.

  • I'm in the exact same boat (25 weeks, not much movement for a day, except I was in Las Vegas, not out of the country). I called my doc. He said not to worry because the cramping is my uterus stretching. And until we have to do the kick counts, there will be days she is less active.

I was thinking between the flight and all the walking, she is probably just more lulled by the rocking. And I'm actually noticing my growing pains more because I'm up and walking around instead of sitting.

Of course, if you're really worried, you should pop in to the ER.

Good luck and keep us posted.

  • I noticed the same thing when we were out of state on vacation. I think its just a big disruption to your schedule and your more distracted. I would try drinking cold water and relaxing, maybe sit and read for a while so your still enough to feel any movement.
  • I was in the same boat for the last two days.

Finally, around 2 AM, when she's normally doing kung fu, I rolled on to my back so I could see if I could feel anything.  I could feel tiny faint kicks, and then a big wave-like shift as she rolled over.  I guess she's been kicking me in the back.

  • This happened with me my OB said it was normal at this stage.  The most important thing is LO is moving.

  • Thanks ladies, I appreciate it! I have been laying on the couch chugging cold water, feeling lil movements here and there, but still not as much as usually, maybe he's facing the opposite way... We will see how the rest of the day goes!
  • I noticed the same thing last week (when I was 25 weeks), and we were also traveling.  He just didn't seem to be moving as much as normal, and I'll admit that I was a little worried, too.  Once we got home and back to our regular schedule, I've been feeling him as normal this week, if not more than usual!  So I chalked it up to either me just not noticing it as much since I was out of my routine, or else he was just having a quiet/sleepy few days.

  • We're at a point where I am pretty familliar with his routines. I can usually predict about when he should be active. That said, he has some days where he's really lazy and skips a dance party or two. I might get a kick here or there, but he'll be much quieter than usual. He also has days (like today) where he has a touch of insomnia and rocks out like a party animal with only little breaks. His usual is to be up for about 20 minutes, then down for an hour and a half to two hours. Today, he's up for a while, then he might sleep for 20-30 minutes, then back at pummeling my insides again. Days like that will happen ater he's born, so I figure why shouldn't they happen now? As long as I feel him moving around in there, and I have no other symptoms, I'm not worrying about it. If you're still really concerned, or if it persists for longer than you're comfortable with, call your doc.

  • My LO's movement patterns have changed over the last 2 or 3 weeks. He used to be very active during the day, and now he is quiet during the day and more active at night. Maybe his sleep cycles have changed. As long as you're feeling something I wouldn't be too worried. You're not supposed to worry about 'counting' your kicks or movements for a few more weeks. Hope he starts moving around a lot in there for you soon!
