pacifier storage

So, I am finishing up the last of baby's things and I was getting ready to sanitize some of the pacifiers we got and I realized that once I sanitize them I have nowhere to store them to keep them clean.  Where do you/do you plan to store pacifiers that are clean?

Re: pacifier storage

  • Good question... I didn't even think of this!

  • My diaper bag came with a pacifier storage bag.  It's really just room for 1 to have while out.  I plan to put the rest in a baggie or the case they came in.
  • I bought a SkipHop PaciEgg. I have no clue if it will work well, but I like that it's hard plastic instead of cloth.

I just assume a cloth holder with a silicone pacifier inside would result in lint on the pacifier.

  • You're going to get to a point where you do the 5 second rule with the pacifier when it drops on the ground.  :-)

I have one in the diaper bag that is in a little case (never gets used any more but is there just in case). One in his crib. Two in the cabinet where I keep his sippy cups. I rotate the crib paci out about once a week for a clean one in the cabinet. If he is sick, he gets a clean paci every night.

When he was younger, I sent a paci to daycare everyday and washed it every night. Kept 2 in the diaper bag. One in the crib and one in his changing table caddy. Had a couple on hand in the cabinet with the bottles.

  • when i got around to sterilizing things...like bottles, BP parts etc...i was going to use ziplocks bags to store everything.
  • I have a pacifier pouch that came with the diaper bag and that is where I keep two. All the extras and different kinds I have once I sanitized them I put them in a Ziplock storage container. I will be honest, when they are brand new is the only time I sanitize them and after that I will throw them in the dishwasher from time to time thats it.

  • I have containers on his dresser for pacis and socks (separate ones).

  • pacifiers are in our silverware drawer and will most likely stay there. I have seen some kids do nasty things with pacifiers so I won't be going to the extreme of keeping them sanitized / locked away. I watched a kid at wal-mart rubbing his on the handle of the cart and the Dad did nothing. Barf. Ick!

ewwwww that is so gross, I do not let DS do that at all. He drops it or sets it down on a table at a restaurant something like that and its in my purse and he does not get it back.

  • I want to clarify that I didn't get the container to keep things sterile. It's more for my own sanity, because I like things organized. I absolutely expect to just pop the pacifier back in his mouth most of the time when it falls on the floor at home or at a friend/family member's house. Wink In public spaces, I'd switch it out for a new one or clean it off before returning it to him.

  • hahahahahaha...

Um...I threw them in my purse, the diaper bag, bassinet, crib, swing...I wanted one near me at all times when DS relied on them to sooth.  I would eyeball them, make sure no dust/hair and pop it back in his mouth.

  • At my baby shower I received a pacifier storage bag to clip to the diaper bag. I hadn't even thought about it, so I'm glad someone else did. I know my best friend used either a ziploc bag or a sandwich sized plastic container to carry hers around.

  • I have a pacifier pod for the diaper bag and pacifier wipes for when it hits some really nasty floors.   The rest of the stash is in a basket hanging on the wall by the changing table in the nursery.

  • I had one of those little pod things that attached to my diaper bag, mostly so I wouldn't have to go rooting around in the bag when I needed a paci quickly.

The MAM brand comes with a plastic storage container that I used for the extras or the ones that went to child care.

But the ones in the house that were in use were usually everywhere - crib, PNP, on the dresser, the end tables, in our bed, you name it.  : )

I haven't really thought of this.

Also, what's the easiest way to sanitize them? I really have no clue about pacifiers.

The rest of the stash? How many do you have... I have a grand total of zero so far. Eek?

The ones I got at my shower say to put them in boiling water for at least 5 minutes prior to the first use to sanitize them.

  • I haven't sterilized pacis for dd yet but I plan on storing them in a tupperware container in her cabinet. Ds never took pacis so I'm hoping dd doesn't either!

    OMG that is so disgusting!

I have posted this before, but it's my favorite organizing tool.  I use an over-the-door shoe organizer for all small baby things.  (I actually have several- one in the closet for scarves/necklaces/etc., one int eh laundry room, one in the pantry.)  I have a couple pockets for all the pacis we've got so far.  It's more for keeping them where I can find them rather than sanitized.  I agree with the PPs that it seems like this goes out the window after a few weeks.  But, I am not a huge germaphobe.
