I do not know about the autopsy as we did not have one done. The funeral home we used did the cremation for free but we bought an urn wooden box for 125. Not sure if that helps.
My insurance must have covered an autopsy because I never saw a bill. Where are you doing the cremation? Most funeral homes (so I was told) will do a cremation at no cost for a baby. I was told to be skeptical of one that did charge. My funeral home was amazing- did the service and cremation for no cost. I'm very sorry for your loss.

We were able to get Patricia into the county medical examiner's office so her autopsy did not cost us anything. My parents paid for her cremation but the funeral home charged only cost and I believe it was in the mid $400s. We did not purchase our urn from them because I didn't like anything they had.
We did not have an autopsy done, but our cremation was about $120, and we purchased a separate urn because we did not like the ones they had. Although inside our urn (we looked) there was a lot of padding and a separate smaller plastic box with his ashes inside a plastic bag. I guess that is what you get if you don't purchase one. We did not have a service either.

I am so sorry for your loss of your lil boy. I too never got a bill for her autopsy and the funeral home we used
covered her cremation charge. I only had to pay the county $50. I bought an urn online for $40.I wish we didn't have to know this stuff.
We didn't have an autopsy. (We knew why I m/c'd) The funeral home waived the cremation fee (most do for compassionate reasons). We did buy an small heart shaped urn for $125 + $90 for engraving her initials on the top, so $215 total.
I am sorry for your loss. I lost my son Nicholas at 29 weeks. My autopsy did not cost us anything it must have been covered but the cremation was 500.00.
