We're pretty sure our son is red/green color blind. The doctor used the cards with hidden shapes and when the two colors were paired together he couldn't see the shapes. He also "misses" these colors when describing things. I don't care that he is color blind, but I do care how I handle it. I don't want to constantly say "no that's not red, it's _____". Some things are easier than others, for example our friend's car is red, but she has a lot of bumper stickers, when he saw a car the other day and said "Leslie's car", I responded "Actually, Leslie's car has more stickers, but its the same type." Anyone have any experience with this? Or can you lead me towards other parents where I can get some input?TIA

Re: Red Green Color blindenss
my brother is color blind. he was diagnosed in elementary school (kindergarten? not sure.)
what my mom would notice was that he would color the sky purple, trees green, etc. He would also ask my mom to pick out clothes or something of a certain color, etc, when he wasn't too sure what the color was.
We didn't modify anything specifically for my brother, he was able to recognize patterns of things, find other ways to identify items (like your friend's car - he will realize that your friends car has more stickers and he'll start to memorize those.)
just take it in stride, i guess, because that's what my mom did. My brother is now an adult and still double checks to see if something is green vs red, etc, just to make sure
