In the infant room (up to 12 months), we have to send everything. After that, day care will provide morning and afternoon snacks, but we have to send lunch.
In our center, a table food lunch & two snacks are provided. The only thing they supply in addition to that is cheerios. If you do not want your child eating that snack/lunch then you can send in your own but it has to be nutritious and nut free. My LO is on table food and i think their cafeteria style lunch is gross at her age so i send in her food at 9m. maybe is she was 3 or 4yrs i would feel different.
DD is at a center and parents have to provide all meals and formula(or bm) in the infant room (6wks -12mos); in the toddler room and up (13mos +) the center provides two snacks and a lunch.
DD will start going to a daycare center next week. We have to send in all formula and food. When she turns 2 years old, they offer one snack a day, so I'll have to send everything in for her. I was actually surprised when I found this out since I thought most places would serve lunch, but they don't.

My DS is starting at a center next week. They provide formula and food, but invite parents to send their own food if they wish. We're still BFing and have a lot of frozen baby food on hand, so we'll be sending our own stuff, at least for the first few weeks.
Obviously this depends on your specific daycare. Our daycare for children older than one provides a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack, and all the water and milk they care to drink, within reason of course. For children under one, you bring the food, and you can continue to bring the food for children if you so prefer once they reach the age of one, but my daycare makes wonderful homemade food every day, served family-style to the children, and it's really good, nutritious food.
