Adoption

What are your favourite adoption blogs?

I'm really picky about the blogs I read, but I'd like to follow some more adoption blogs.  My favourite blogs (not just adoption related) at the moment are Enjoying the Small Things (Kelle Hampton's), Jen Hatmaker's blog, and The Anderson Crew (which I know can be a bit controversial).  Shout out to Jillian; I love your blog as well.

Any similar blogs you'd like to suggest?

Love love love Rage Against the Minivan.  Their family is amazing!  I've also been reading  https://adoptionsharethelove.blogspot.com/ a lot lately, inspired by the stories from both Amoms and BMs.  Sorry not clicky!

  • Not an adoption blog but one worth mentioning...

    Memories on Clover Lane

Sarah is getting ready to have her sixth baby!  Her eldest is leaving for college.
She is the most common sense mom I know... if you are someone that doesn't want to the mom that runs to 20 million practices and makes her kids the center of life, then read Clover Lane.  I relate so much to her common sense and no fuss.  I really strive to live like her... lower key than the chaotic world around me.

You are the first person I know who also knows who Jen Hatmaker is.   I just read "7" and started following her on twitter.  Love her convictions but wow she is HYPER.  She tweets like 30 times a day. I do not know how one person can have so much energy!

I like the "Salsa in China" blog - the video of their referral makes me cry.  They have twin girls from China.

The blog "No Greater Joy Mom" is so inspirational.  This family has adopted four girls already, I think 3 with special needs (one I'm not sure what her diagnosis is- speech delay and something else I think? and two with DS) and now they are adopting two- boy and a girl- with severe special needs *I think* from Bulgaria. Definitely worth a read.

I started reading Jen's blog after reading "7."  :)  Love it!  I just started following her on Twitter, which I only check occasionally, and yes, she's a psycho.  I'm actually trying to get her to speak at a benefit for work next year (I'm a publicity/events coordinator for a Christian nonprofit)--I just have to convince the board and my boss.

I love No Greater Joy Mom!  We're actually very strongly considering adopting a child with special needs from Bulgaria, which is how I found her.

  • I feel like it's so hard to find an adoption blog I like/can connect with because we don't have a relationship with our son's mother (her choice) and because we have bio kids. I can't wait to read through all the suggested blogs and see what they are like!  <3

I kind of feel the same way, but I've found a few.  DH and I have a biological daughter and are in the early stages of IA, but hope to grow our family both biologically and through adoption in the future.  It's a bit different than adopting because of infertility or after having all of the bio kids you intend to have.  I love a good adoption blog no matter the circumstances though.  :)
