We were just at the Pediatrician's office for DD. She's been super fussy the last few days and developed a rash this afternoon. The Dr. said it's likely a virus but I could give her a teaspoon of Benadryl to help with any possible itching and/or if it is an allergic reaction. I didn't realize the Benadryl packaging says not to give to kids under two so I didn't think to ask any further questions. Those of you who have given their LO Benadryl - how long did you give it and how frequently (I'm guessing twice a day?) Thanks!
Re: Benadryl?
If your doctor gave you the dosage, its fine. A good friend of mine is a nurse and she said benadryl is one of the safest meds out there.

My BFP Chart
You should call your pedi for the dosing instructions. Our pedi okayed us giving it every 4-6 hours, I believe, but we usually only give it at nap time and at bedtime, because it makes him super-sleepy.
We only give it when he has congestion that's making it hard for him to sleep or when he has congestion and we're getting on a plane, though. If he had an itchy rash, I'd probably give it at regular intervals.
My pedi ok'd it when DS was 15ish months and over 20 pounds.
The dosage was by weight not age which makes sense. Anyway, this is the dosage chart I used (which was confirmed as ok by pedi)
