considering the number of bottles we'll need for twins, do you think it's necessary to register for 2 different sizes... 5oz and 9oz? Or would just the 9oz size be fine, as long as I change the nipple flows?

Re: bottle sizes
I have a few 4oz size, which are nice for the diaper bag, and I still only give them 4oz in the middle of the night.
But honestly, I'd just go with the 9oz. You'll be able to use them way longer.

If I could go back and do it again, I wouldn't have registered or bought any bottles in advance. I had no idea what the babies would like. We ended up getting Dr. Browns for gifts, but only the large size. They seemed ridiculously huge when the babies came home, so we bought 5oz Tomee Tippee, and those are what worked, but I wish I would have went with the 9oz TT's form the start.
We have two unopened boxes of Dr. Browns and are going to try to exchange them. The Tommee Tippee are just so much more simple (less parts, more compact), and we already know the babies like them.

thanks!
I think I'll only register for a couple of 5oz bottles and then get mostly 9oz ones. The only reason I questioned this was because I wasn't sure if I needed to be concerned with air bubbles in the large bottle if I'm only feeding them 2-3oz in the begining.
This.
I used the smaller sized bottle with all 3 of my kids. In the very beginning, your babies arent going to even do 2oz per feeding and those bottles are going to look huge.
I have about 15 small bottles and it works well for me with doing bottles in the dishwasher once a day (just a singleton this time). I realize I will only use them for a short period of time, but you literally use them ALL day long, esp if you FF.

The small bottles are a waste of money. They are expensive (we use Tommee Tippee) and by 2 months old the small ones were useless. It's true there isn't a 1 oz line, but if you really need one just make a mark with a Sharpie. Honestly, though, it's pretty easy to tell how much they drank if you just use your eyeballs.
If you have plenty of money to throw around then go for the small ones, but if I had it to do over I would have just gotten the 9oz. I wouldn't worry about the extra air or bubbles if you are using a bottle that prevents colic.
