Pregnant w/ APS

I was recently diagnosed with APS after my second miscarriage. They believe this is why I miscarried twice. I was wondering if anyone else has the same thing and are on Lovenox shots as well. I have no problem giving myself the shot but it burns for like 10 mins afterwards. My stomach looks like my 4 year old niece poked me a purple marker all over.

It will all be worth it in the end.

  • Oh man, that's rough!  I didn't even know what APS was until I Googled it just now.  I'm guessing you'll be at a risk for developing pre-eclampsia?  Have you checked out the High-Risk board here on the Bump?  There might be some ladies there who are going through the same thing.

  • I was also diagnosed with APS after 2 miscarriages.  The original plan of action was to start with heparin shots twice daily and then we would switch to one lovenox shot a day.  I go every two weekds for a 'viability check', and so far, they don't want me to switch to Lovenox.  So, I am still taking shots twice a day.  One is at 7am and the other at 7pm.  Kinda stinks when we go out to dinner with friends and I have to excuse myself to take a shot in the bathroom.  It feels incredibly wierd and awkward, but I know it's worth it.  We have a strong and healthy baby and could not be happier.  My belly also looks like someone has used it for a punching bag.  There was even a time I thought I was going to have to give myself shots in the legs becuase I was running out of room.  It getting easier with a bigger belly because I have more room, I just can't see much below my belly button anymore to give myself shots.  Anyway, good luck!  It's nice to hear of someone else out there with such a similar situation!!!
