Being discharged from hospital tonight and question!

I've been in the hospital since Monday afternoon for contractions. Unfortunately, now my cervix is 1cm dilated, but they are still releasing me as there is not really anything they can do here (besides monitor) that I can't do at home. Plus, I believe I will be able to rest better at home, and I only live 10 min from hospital. No more procardia because it gave me tachycardia (consistent 130bpm+), and my contractions have been less strong and infrequent since they took me off last night. Modified bed rest though, but I doubt my partner will be letting me do anything for myself besides urinate haha.

Questions: I am 24w1d today. Did anyone else start dilating this early? How long until you gave birth or started to dilate further? I realize this can vary greatly between women. Just hoping for some positive stories to soothe my worries. I'm literally preparing to move 2.5 hours away in 8 days! These babies need to hold on for at least a month!

I had the same situation at 26 weeks and held on for 8 more weeks. They were born at 34. I never took Procardia cause my BP is already super low. I was on Progesterone cream inserts for the whole 8 weeks. There was a new stdy about it at the time and I really think it helped. Stay in bed, I would stay away from the move. Go to a hotel for the day. Having recently moved myself, I know that sounds crazy. But any little stress or too much activity can jeopardize your munchkins! Good luck and keep us posted!! Hugs!!!

I was hosp at around 25 wks for PTL on procardia. It made me extremely tachy, and my b/p would bottom out. There were a few times when they would not give it to me because my b/p and MAP would be too low. My MFM also had me on Prometrium (po) for a few weeks until I developed cholestasis and they suspected the extra progesterone was what triggered that.

Did they discuss the steriod shots with you? (sorry I haven't seen other posts) If not, it would be a great idea (in my non-medical expert opinion) to go through that.

I made it to 34w5d after a few roller coaster rides including 48 hours on the mag monster to get another round of steroid shots. I was on strict hosp bedrest or I may not have made it that far.

Please take it easy and like PP said, stay put in the bed. I was only allowed up to shower, potty, and brush teeth, as long as I'd had a good 24 hours.

I am crossing my fingers for 34 weeks! Thankfully, I am going to be at a family member's house while everyone handles the moving business. In the meantime, my girlfriends are packing my things for me, and my partner's friends will be doing all of the loading, driving and unpacking. I feel very blessed to have a good support system!! Thank you for the wishes

Lucy, my phone is not letting me quote you, but I did receive two steroid shots while in the hospital. The doctors have placed me on modified bed rest, but I am finding that I'm too nervous to be moving around at all, so I've placed myself on strict with much support of my family and friends. Thankfully my partner works from home. I'm hoping to be able to stay on bed rest from home though. I feel much more comfortable (and better fed) here.
