My hands hurt

My baby is only 10lbs or a bit more by now and my hands are hurting every day more and more. Man if they are hurting like this now, how would I manage in a month or 2?

I hold my baby a lot, he is a preemie and has bad reflux so each time after a feed I hold him in an upright position for 45 min or longer.

Is anyone else with this issue? Any suggestions to ease the pain in my hands?I feel like such a wimp!

  • I prop my body up with pillows.  Do you own a boppy pillow?  I have one and I think it's wonderful.

  • maybe a baby bjorn?

  • You might have tendonitis in your wrists. I'd speak with your dr. I know a friend of mine got it bad after her daughter was born and had to wear a wrist guard for several months.

Yeah, tendonitis SUCKS. I have it permanently from an old injury, and my wrists were really aching the first few weeks after DD was born. I started using my boppy pillow more consistently, and started wearing her more often, and the pain went back down to normal.

  • I have really bad arthritis in one of my elbows. The more weight Renee gains the harder it is to hold her. My Moby wrap helps a lot when my arms need a break and so does my boppy. Have you tried those things?

  • I don't wear him often but I will. I used the baby k'tan carrier yesterday w LO and yes, it was good to have a break. I bottle feed and I have a boppy pillow but not sure how to use it without still having to support LO. Maybe I'm missing something. Thanks!
