XP: NBR: Anyone been on Lybrel?

my OBGYN put me on Lybrel b/c I spot for a week before getting AF..and I am tired of bleeding. We aren't having any more kids, but DH is going to get a vasectomy so this isn't for BC purposes. Well, I just found out that Lybrel is the BCP that takes away your period completely...except that I started taking it 8 days ago...at the start of AF...and am still very much bleeding. Now I am reading that this is common and can last up to 6 months?! WTF is the point of taking a pill to eliminate 1 out of 2 weeks of spotting when I can potentially bleed for 6 months straight??

Anyone have any experience with this BCP, good or bad, to share with me??
