Advice on ordering kiddo tags for labeling my school boy's stuff.

I bough a mama source deal for "kiddo tags" which makes a wide array of tags you can iron on or just stick to shoes, clothes, sippys, you get the picture. I have a four year old ds in preschool and a 16 monthds starting two mornings a week in a preschool type environment (keep reminding myself it's only 5 hours a week and he is going to love it).

I'm guessing I can just put their names on everything, order a variety of sizes and it will all work out a-ok but figured I better ask some more experienced broads before I made anything permanent.

Any advice as to what to write on the tags? Should I skip putting first names so when ds2 gets a hand me down it doesn't have his brother's name on it? Its possible that I will be able to get the tags off (some are semipermanent raher than the perm iron on). Should i put anything in addition to their names? Leave their first namemoff of anything a stranger might be able to see (like last name only on his backpack? So far I have written everything on the inside). How many of each thing should I get etc? I bought two packages so I can choose $80 worth of stuff (figure I'll need these every year for a long time so I can store them). I think i could put "this belongs to" on some of them and perhaps i could order haF of s shoe dots with r and the other half with l in addition to his name. Some of the sample product pictures have witty little sayings and what not on them. Most advice is appreciated. https://magento.kiddotags.com/photos

  • We use name bubbles and b/c there are hand-me-downs only our last name is mentioned. I only put them on the items for school (bags, lunch box, extra clothes).  I chose stickers that are the size of a penny so it will be difficult for a stranger to read them afar plus they are positioned on the inside of the belongings.

  • I ordered two colors of last-name-only labels last year, from Label Daddy.

Because it's only our last name, either of my girls can use them. Sometimes I use different colors so that when we have two identical items I can easily tell whose is whose (and so can the girls). I ordered a good-sized combo pack and had plenty of labels last year, for this year, and probably for at least one more year and maybe even two!

Mine weren't iron-on, so I can't speak to that. They are fantastic at sticking, though, even through multiple washes and re-sticking after being pulled partially off. I haven't really tried to remove any yet.

  • Most iron on stuff will come off in time. From my experience if you iron it and try to peal it off while it is hot and the adhesive is hot it can be pried off.

But that was with other labels. My preschool labels for my girls are in the mailbox now so I am going to test out the peel off factor.
