Can I use Colic Calm and gas drops together?

My 5 week LO has had very bad gas pains for the past 3 weeks.  His pedi diagnosed him with Colic, since he is inconsolable most evenings for up to hours at times.  He recommended I use simethicone drops... and I've been using them for a little over a week.  It has helped a bit, but we still have a crying baby for pretty much the entire evening.  I have noticed a difference when I forget to give it to him, the crying turns into screaming.  Needless to say, I haven't forgotten often.  Anyway, I've read about Colic Calm and tried it out last night.  I didn't give him his usual dosage of gas drops b/c I wasn't sure if I can use both together.  The first dose we gave him in the early evening seemed too good to be true.  But later that night... his pains seemed to be back with a vengence.

Has anyone used both the Colic Calm (or other gripe water) and gas drops in conjunction with eachother??  My DH and I are desperate to get some peace in the evenings.

  • My pedi said this was fine as they have different active ingredients.

  • DD1 had really bad colic and colic calm, ovol, gripe water and all of those didn't help. Only thing that helped (which was recommended by a friend that had a colic baby and this helped her too) was Biogaia probiotic drops. I would say the crying went from most of the evening/night to maybe 1-2hours per night. My Dr. said it was ok to use so we tried it and it made all the difference in our case. Good Luck!

  • my ds was the same way!  it was so sad, i felt like i wasnt doing my job as his mother! i use colic calm and probiotics.  i bf and supplement so i also cut dairy out of my diet and switched to similac soy.  i dont know exactly which one helped but hr is 100% better!  i hope you find something that works for you, i know how frustrating it can be, good luck!
