Baby Names

Zoey for a girl.

I haven't seen anyone mention this name. It is our #1 name so far.

What is your opinion on the name Zoey Maye? (Maye is grandmothers middle name)

I used to really like this and Chloe but not am starting to find them a little too cutesy for my taste. But go for it! I would suggest, however, to spell it Zoe with Maye as a MN. Zoey Maye looks odd to me.

  • I like this name but I worry that it doesn't age well. It's on my list of cute girl names that I probably won't use...right along with Heidi.

    I prefer the spelling Zoe.

Yes this if you end up using it. Zoe isn't my style but it's not a bad name at all. I believe it means "life" and I prefer the Zoe spelling. My H thinks it looks incomplete without the Y but I disagree. ;)

ETA: I should add that I love Maye as a middle name. Very pretty.

  • Zoe is a touch cutesey and not my style, but it'll age WAY better than most other names like that.  I like Zoe Maye, but Zoey Maye is too many y's, I think.
  • My niece is named Zoey so I'm partial, but I love it!

I think it ages just fine, think about Zoey Deschanel and Zoe Saldana (from Colombiana and other movies). I never think of their names as too cutesy for them. Well Zoey Deschanel sometimes *acts* cutesy but that's just part of her shtick.

Anyway, I still like the name and think either spelling is fine.

  • Haha, that's almost exactly my Bump name! As a 34-year-old Zoe, I do think it ages well. I'd also encourage you to spell it the traditional way without the 'y' at the end because I'm a stickler for correct spelling. I don't mind it with the MN of Maye, but if you're going that route I especially think you should drop the 'y'.

  • This name is NMS, but if you must use it, please spell it correctly. It's a Greek name, just like Chloe, and there's no reason to toss a Y at the end of it.

  • We considered Zoe too but ultimately went with something else. I agree with everyone else, it's nice but definitely drop the Y.
