Nate got hurt during PT...again....Updated...

ugh. PT just left the house and I am waiting for the pedi to get back from lunch.

Nate and PT were doing a dancing type move where she spins him around holding one arm and he fell on his face. She did not react quick enough to keep his head from hitting the floor. This is the second time he has gotten hurt while she was doing some maneuver with him.

His lip is swollen and both nostrils are bloody. When I was holding his nose to staunch the bleeding I felt a little "pop".

WTF. I think she broke my kid's nose. Crying

Got an X-ray. Nothing broken. I m going to follow up with ENT when we see her in Sept.

  • Holy S*it!!!  Just hearing what you described sent chills down my spine!  I hope that he is okay- WTF is with her being so careless?  I am so sorry that happened!  I think that would be a tough move for any kiddo!

  • Oh my. Is she a special kind of PT? What you described sounds kind of dangerous.

:( I am so sorry. Keep us posted.

Poor kid! I hope he is okay. Yeah, this. Makes me question what she is doing.

  • I think the PT needs to rethink what she does with Nate. Once I can see being an accident and I'd brush it off, but 2 instances, especially if he ends up with a broken nose, is simply not ok.

  • oh my goodness, poor Nate.

    hope he's doing ok now.

She the Feldenkrais PT. We lose her at the end of the month anyway due to EI politics. She just pushes him too far, which is good and bad at the same time.

We went and got an X-ray. His nose doesn't really stick out all that much, but after I felt that pop I was a bit freaked out.  Nothing broken. :)

  • I'm a EI PT.  I bet she feels horrible (hopefully).  PT with kids is tough because your challenging them, but are walking a fine line between a challenge and too much.  Have a talk with her and see what her thoughts are.  It's important safety and her guarding is there to back up the therapy.  Sorry you and Nate had to go through that :(
  • Glad he is ok! Hopefully he is feeling back to normal tonight.

We had a tough  PT session today, too and are at that point where he really needs to learn to rise to the challenge, as opposed to saying and signing, "Done" ten times. He almost gets hurt at least once per session ( we are just starting to work with the reverse walker). He tries to give up or wiggle out. When you said she was swinging him by one arm, that threw me, but I am not familiar with Feldenkrais methods so maybe that is typical.

It wasn't a swing by the arm thing. It was more a holding his hand while he walked and then doing a spin move like you do in dancing. He was really enjoying it, until the whole face-plant part...LOL
