Im expecting ds in October and family members have asked me what they could buy for us. I have most everything I need by with dd I had the little lamb infant seat which worked ok but I have read a lot about the rock and play being a life saver. I had an infant swim for dd but it was given to is used and clean but almost on its last leg mechanically and dd kinda killed it I guess. So my question is do you recommend me asking for? A rock and play or a swing of something else?
Re: Rock and play, swing, or something I haven't even considered
My first loved the bouncy chair and my second loved the swing...
The FP vibrating bouncy chair was in use with DS1 well beyond the weight limit. Plus, it's easier to move than a swing after they fall asleep.
I'd also ask for anything and everything. That way they know what you need, and can make a decision themselves.
Rock n Play all the way... We rarely used the swing... wishing now I hadn't spent so much on it!
The rock n play was good for up to 25 lbs I think? I stopped using it around 2 months when he started sleeping in his crib, but occasionally brought it places instead of a pack n play (much smaller and lighter) and I used it when he was congested. The back is at an incline which promotes drainage.

The RnP was a lifesaver for DD. DS - not so much. I actually think he would be sleeping best in the crib - but I can't get #1 out of it.
A carrier is pretty essential I feel. Or see if a few people would pitch in on a really nice double instead of individual gifts. We splurged on a nice double and that's what has been a life saver w/ #2, honestly.
I got the city select for dd and my parents bought us the second seat for it already. They will buy almost anything we ask for. We are planning on this being our last baby so trying not to ask for much.
