I have to admit (sadly, because I've watched the show), the housewife is the first person who came to mind. But, I like the name (and nn Vivi), and she's a flash in the pan reality TV star (to use the term very loosely) so I wouldn't rule it out because of her.
Ya, I wish I could say I heard it from somewhere else other than the housewives! It is a real name, but even on Nameberry, the only info is that it is one of the NYC housewives..lol.

Yeah, that is not an ideal "meaning" to have to explain to a child (or for your child to have to explain herself someday)! But, if it makes you feel better, behindthename.com says it's the feminine form of Aviv, which means "spring" in Hebrew. At least that sounds legit!
Are you Jewish? I have only known two Avivas and both were Jewish. Not that you can't borrow from other cultures, but I would assume an Aviva was Jewish (similar to Merav, Tovah, Hadassah, Chava, etc.).

This. It's pretty, but I personally wouldn't use it unless you were Jewish.
I went to a Jewish high school and I had 3 Avivas in my class. In college, there were many many more. One of my best friends Aviva from high school went by Vivs.

I was going to say the same thing. I'm Jewish so I've known a few Aviva's and I would totally associate it with someone who was, at least, Jewish Conservative.
Re: Aviva?
Hahaha! I just did a google search and saw a bunch of insurance companies!!

I have never seen the show, but I do like Aviva.
