DS nurses 3x a day and I'll be dropping the afternoon session this week as I'm going back to work next week. My plan was to see how things go after that and not force him to drop the morning and night session.
Lately, he is very difficult to nurse before bed. He is always Unlatching and trying to sit up. I think he may be too impatient for my letdown (I don't feel it anymore, I usually know it has happened by the sounds he makes) and I'm scared that not nursing properly before bed will screw up my "bedtime" supply. I've thought of pumping beforehand to encourage the letdown but it takes me like 5-10 minutes of pumping now before it happens. Plus I'm busy getting him ready for bed.
I thought the bedtime session was usually the last to be dropped? I'm not sure how to fix this or what to do. Any insight would be appreciated!
Re: Difficulty nursing 11m old before bed
I agree with PP - my LO loves his nighttime nursing but also loves to fight going to sleep. It's a fun battle some nights.
I've found LO goes to sleep easiest when he's pretty tired, but not overtired. So it could be he's needing to stay up a touch later, try 15-30mins or even a touch earlier, again 15-30min. See where that leads you.
Definitely not a comfort nurser. He's all about the business of eating!
Thanks to everyone for a different perspective!
