Preemies

Pacifier

LO is a 31 week preemie, 4 months of age now. He used to take his paci while in the nicu (6 weeks) and for the first month at home. Now he is not taking it anymore. I also failed to consistently use it.

It used to be great for car seat rides, and to sooth him.

Could he take it again, what should I do?

DS was born in April 2012 at 31 weeks - 45 days in NICU

Re: Pacifier

  • Sorry to say, but once DD rejected the paci it was DONE.  We tried all different types and then gave up since she only wanted the boob.  I hope someone has a story of hope!

  • I have no advice for you. I actually think it may be a blessing in disguise.

DD#2 takes a paci, but still hates her car seat, so I find if I'm the passenger that I have to stick my hand in the car seat and let me touch me. If it's just me and kids in the car then I just try to calm her down by singing or shhing. Good luck.

  • DS used his for the 7 weeks he was in the NICU, he also used it for about a month after he came home.  He hasn't used it for the past month, and wants nothing to do with it. I think he self weaned.

My little pumpkin was born at 34weeks, weighing 3lbs, due to severe IUGR & Unexplained Placental Insufficiency. He spent 49 days in the NICU. Lilypie Premature Baby tickers imageimageimageimageimageimage
