I think follow up clinics can vary widely but at our clinic you meet with a nurse, a social worker, a speech language pathologist, an occupational therapist and finally the development pediatrician. They measure, weigh, assess, play with your child and then at the end give you their thoughts on development, goals, areas of concern etc.
We go every 4-6 months, and it's an evaluation of her skills. They have her play with certain toys, see if she has developed specific skills. They also do her physical stats. It usually takes 45 minutes or so for us. We only see the neonatologist.
