Walkers

Does anyone here use (or has used) a walker?  DD is 16 months and her PT is recommending a toddler walker.  The one she recommends is a Guardian Strider Walker but the medical equipment company thinks she isn't tall enough for it.  Can you recommend yours?  Also, have you had postive experiences using these?  Thank you!

I have no advice, but I just have to tell you that your daughter is beautiful!!! Oh my goodness, I bet you just kiss her all the time!

Nate borrowed a walker from our PT through EI. It was a reverse walker and he was about 31" tall when he started iusing it. It probably could have gone a bit lower. I do not know what kind it was since it was borrowed.

Do you have an equipment exchange where you live like this one??

I googled yours and there is one that is the same one Nate had!....He started using it at 22 months. Befoer that time I used a baby walker without the seat for him to try out. Since he could manage that, we decided he could manage a walker..

What a great program!  I am waiting to hear back from the medical supply company re: which type of walker may be more suitable for her since she's also 31" now.  I believe my insurance is covering this.  I can ask her EI PT also.  Thanks for the info!

We'll be starting with a Kaye walker soon because it's the model that is covered for us (DD is 18 months) but I have also heard from other moms in the Spina Bifida world that the Nimbo walker is very popular.  They are both the style that go behind the child.

We are ordering a Kaye reverse walker, with optional fold-down seat. DS is 37 inches, but it does come in a smaller size than what he will be getting.

We had the Kaye reverse walker which we ordered from adaptivemall.  We needed the smallest size and my daughter was very short and it worked - it was very adjustable. It worked out well - when we were finished with it, our physical therapist was able to sell it to another family so we didn't end up paying much out of pocket (my insurance has a $500 equipment copay and the walker was only about $200).
