Does anyone really use Pantene?

Every few years the commercials suck me into retrying it hoping they changed their formula or something.  However, each time I kick myself for spending the money because it feels like it leaves a coat of wax on my hair.  How has it stayed so popular for so darn long??  If you like it is there a certain "version" of it you like?

Re: Does anyone really use Pantene?

  • I haven't in forever but it's because they test on animals (or did, I haven't looked the, up) I was never impressed with them anyway.

I like what I use now, it's a split end treatment, tresemme I think.

  • It always made my hair super greasy, but I have very thick and coarse hair.  Maybe it's better for different hair types.

  • I have super fine hair and it leaves greasy spots when it dries.

  • I have thick hair and use it but I don't do anything fancy with my hair; it's either pulled back or I straighten it once in a blue moon. There's always coupons for it so I have a stockpile. Last time I got them for 34 cents a bottle at Target.

I think different formulas just work better on different hair. It's one of the few that doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy.

  • I do!

But I use the clarifying/clear kind.  And I barely use any conditioner at all.  Like, pinky-nail sized blip.

Works great for my hair, for whatever reason.

  • I have very fine hair but quite a bit of it and Pantene leaves a weird greasy look plus a wax coating on mine. I hate it with a passion and 3/4s of the shampoos out there are all the same to me/I'll use whatever.

My bff however has used the stuff since HS and swears by it. We have pretty much the same hair type too.

  • I use it. I use the formula for color treated hair. I've never had any issues.

  • Nope.  I use Redkin for color treated hair.

  • I don't use it because it destroys your hair. It coats your hair in a layer of silk protein that can make it impossible to color your hair or will melt your hair completely. Either one. I won't touch the stuff.

  • I use Pantene, it's the only shampoo that doesn't leave a film in my hair! I have tried herbal essences, tre semme and a few others over the years and within a few weeks my hair and scalp are a disgusting mess, but pantene always works well for me. I use classic with the blue label or one of the "natural ones" although I couldn't say which (I remember the label).

  • I love Pantene.  I either use the color treated formula for highlights or the clear, clarifying shampoo that was previously mentioned.  It never leaves my hair greasy.  I use their conditioner too, and probably use too much, but it still doesn't make my hair greasy.  I wash my hair every morning.  I love it.  I've tried other brands, but some of them make my hair really flat or others actually make my scalp break out (Garnier Fructise).

  • I always used the extra moisture kind. I LOVE it :)

  • According to a hairdresser I saw back in the day it does coat your hair with wax, that's what makes it shiny. She could tell what shampoo I used just by touching my hair. At her suggestion (and because I was grossed out) I switched after that.

  • I used to use it until my sister became a professional stylist & told me to never use it ever again.  I used it once after that at a friend's house since it was all she had & within a day or two went to my sister for a hair cut.  She could tell I had used Pantene right away.  It definitely leaves a coating on your hair that may make it seem healthier but it's not.

  • I LOVE Pantene Medium-Thick Frizzy to Smooth Conditioner.  I've never liked their shampoos much, though, so I use a different brand of shampoo.

  • I've been using the Aqua Light version, which is a shampoo and conditioner in one, and so far I love it.  My hair tends to be naturally oily, so the "lightness" of this seems to help with it a lot.
