GroVia AIO leaks - user error?

Ok, I cannot for the life of my figure out how to put this diaper on without leaks.  The leaks are on the sides of the diaper.  I know a lot of people have success with the GroVia AIOs, so I am assuming I'm just putting it on wrong.  Any helpful suggestions?

Re: GroVia AIO leaks - user error?

  • Have you tried changing the rise? Are they prepped really well? Are you using the extra soaker?

I put them on really tight- as tight as I can get it. When my mother puts them on, she snaps them way too lose and we get leaks.

I did 5-6 prep washes on them, and they are barely wet when I change him.  I will have to check the rise/tightness; that may be the issue.

Ditto this. I sold my aios and kept my ai2s which I love best right now.

  • We had the same problem. I think the GroVias have larger ruffles on the sides and it would just wick from there onto LO's clothing. In any case, we started putting a diaper cover over the top when we used GroVias, but honestly, they were the last diapers in our stash we reached for.

Which soaker pads do you both have? I can't decide between the organic cotton or the stay dry pads.

  • Make sure you're folding the soaker over the baby first, THEN the side tabs.  If the side tabs are closest to the baby, then they soak up all the pee and it will wick out the sides.  We use both soakers and put it on this way and have never had a leak.  This is one of my goto diapers for being out of the house, or if I know I won't be able to change him for a while.  My son even wore it for over 4 hrs a couple of times with no leaks.

  • I had the same issue for a few weeks. My GV AIO's were the first OS to fit DD but then there was a time that they leaked and then they stopped? I never changed the size, I think that my DD's proportions just changed and then changed again. Don't give up on them yet. They have gone back to being one of my fav's :)

I had this same issue with the newborn aio's. They were the 1st to fit him, then they leaked constantly for a few weeks, then I tried again and they were fine. He just grew out of them recently.
