Is this spelling to weird??

DH and I are considering Maddox for our baby boy's name. however I was thinking of spelling it Madox... I have seen it spelled some other ways but think that they are just a little too different for our taste. I have heard some people say that you should just stick with Maddox. I do not think that removing one of the d's would change the name... what is your opinion?

yes, sorry it is weird.  Phonetically your spelling is mad-ox, like and angry animal.  Maddox spells the name like people actually say it.  I think you consider spelling it the normal way.

I don't think it's too weird; weird would be Maadux. I agree with PP that it looks too close to mad ox. I much prefer the spelling Maddox.

Being a teacher, I definitely see it as Mad ox but I don't think it is that weird to spell it that way.

I think it is weird.  Moreover, WHY do you want to spell it that way?  If it is simply to be more "unique", I think it is a really bad idea. If it is somehow a family name... maybe I could see it. Do your kid a favor though, and spell his name correctly.

This. My first name has a non-traditional spelling and it is sooo annoying. Don't do it to your child.

Madox looks like it should be pronounced MAY-dox, which sounds like a cleaning product.

Why on earth would you even want to change the spelling?
