The last time I did the pregnancy thing I was 30, and found put around 8 weeks, and didn't bother to see the OB until around 10 weeks. It was my 4th pregnancy in 6 years and I knew what to expect.
Fast forward 7 years... Now I'm considered AMA at 37. Should I make an OB appt right away? Is there different testing or monitoring that needs to be done early? I have no history of miscarriage or preterm labor, no health issues like diabetes or high blood pressure. Lol, I'm just not young! ![]()
I just want to make sure our nibblet is going to stick, but I don't know how much they can tell that early on. Thanks for your input
Re: When did you make your first Appt?
Thanks ladies. I'll make my appt next month so that I can get a referral to a midwife in my area.
This (currently awaiting our first baby, at 37 (me) and 46 (DH)). I didn't get any special treatment for age - they just like to give the warm n fuzzies with that awesome label.
What is normal at my OB's office is a first appointment at 8 weeks. But because of a prior loss, they saw me at 6 weeks for an ultrasound. Also, from the moment I got my positive test, I was being monitored by my RE. So I had betas and progesterone checked on that first day and again every 48 hours for the next 2 weeks - until I switched to my OB at 6 weeks. Good thing I did, because my progesterone was super low and I was spotting.
But I think if you've had an uneventful history and current pregnancy, 8-ish weeks is probably normal.
