Random people following me on Pinterest -- can you block?

Lately I've had three people start following me on Pinterest -- I have no idea who they are. Can you block people from following you? Or "unfollow" them from your Pins (I'm not saying that right). It just creeps me out to have strangers seeing my plans for DS's birthday and whatnot.

  • Nope, I believe it's all public. That's kind of the point of it-to share ideas. You can keep it from being searched on search engines, but you can't make a board private. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want other people to use those ideas too- if it really bothers you, you can make an alias so they don't know who you are, but if you don't have your profile linked with Facebook, they can't find out who you are anyways.

  • Ditto JumpAround. All boards are public, so if someone finds a Pin you posted and they like it, then they can follow one or all your boards. It's not like Facebook where you can keep networks private. Why are you worried about people seeing plans for the baby's room? They're just ideas and pictures. You're not inviting them to your house for a party or anything (probably not, anyway...). :) Like JumpAround said, just make sure your Pinterest profile isn't linked to your Facebook account, and then you can use Pinterest with anonymity and people can't see or find your FB info. You can always use an alias on Pinterest as well, if you're overly-concerned about privacy.

  • No, that's the point of pinterest! :)  You can search for an idea you are looking for and see everyone's boards.  I'm a teacher, so I follow a ton of boards of classroom ideas that other teachers (strangers) have posted.  It's an open social site.  I did change my name on it and unlink it from my facebook page.  You can do both those things on the profile (or something like that) section without having un-do anything else you have on your account.
