I need your ideas, ladies. Had my 3rd csection on Aug 7th, 5 days ago. Still no bowel movement in sight. It's not causing me that much discomfort yet, but I've been eating plenty and I just feel backed up.
I was taking Colace in the hospital one in the morning and one at night. I pooped 4-5 days after, not sure which, but was taking Miralax 2x a day once I got home, then continued to take the Miralax for about 2 weeks. Not sure if you are still on the percocets or not, but they also constipate you. Definately go out and buy miralax, with my first I didn't use a stool softener and thought I was going to rip my insision open. Good Luck.
I first pooped on the 5th day, and I didn't take anything to promote it, just drank a lot of water as per usual. No discomfort, either. I been one other time since she was born on August 5th. I'm just going to let things happen as they happen for now.
Thanks ladies, I guess I just had to vocalize it! A few hours after posting this I was able to go, finally! 5th day here.
For those who want to know, I am on percocet which I know can cause constipation. I took stool softener while in the hospital but never picked any up for home, forgot. This morning I had two cups of coffee and I think that really helped!
I had to double up on Colace and start taking less Dilaudid. Combination of the two helped some, and a couple days after I stopped Dilaudid completely, things returned to normal. The nurse told me narcotic pain relief has that effect on most people.
Re: Help me figure out how to poop!
Have you passed gas?
I had my c/s on Aug 6, passed gas on Aug 8, and didn't poop until Aug 10 (yesterday afternoon).
Also, I've been taking 2 colace in the morning and 2 at night every day since my c/s. Are you taking stool softeners?
I didn't poop after my second c/s until 8 days pp. I wasn't in pain or anything and my doctor wasn't worried.
I kept taking colace adn moving around and it finally happened. Hang in there!
