Ever since we saw Les Miserables a few months ago, my husband has been stuck on the name Cosette for a middle name.  I think it's kinda cool, but doesn't it have a horribly negative connotation?  I mean, she was an illegitimate and abused child, her mother was a whore!  Haha....

I love Cosette. I've known one in real life, and she was a really sweet, lovely woman.

And Cosette in Les Mis has kind of a sad story, but she's not a horrible character. She's a good person with admirable qualities. It's not like naming a kid Jezebel.

When I saw Les Mis in high school I was obsessed with the name too. I have grown out of it since, but I still like the name a lot.

Someone I graduated with named her daughter Cosette and calls her Cozy for short. I like Cosette, but strongly dislike the nn Cozy. Last name is a noun so it sounds really strange together.

I grew up with a Kossette and no it wasn't a Kardashian trend. I don't think the name has a bad connotation. If anything I'd be more worried about her being called a cassette tape.

This. I also like Fantine, I think she had admirable qualities as well. In the story she was forced into prostitution. I think they are both beautiful characters.
