Hi,
New to the adoption board and looking for info. Not with an agency yet.. I am a twin myself and they run in my family so naturally I would like to have them ( or multiples!) Is it unheard of to request multiples? Don't get me wrong, any child would be welcome and wanted but in my research so far I have not found any information about this . Does it happen often? Does anyone have insight? Just looking for some responses thanks!
Re: newbie question: Can you request multiples? Does that ever happen?
I don't know the stats on how often multiples are placed for adoption, but our agency at least has a caveat in their fee structure relating to what happens if you adopt multiples, so it must happen sometimes!
I'm guessing you would have to let your social worker know that you're interested in having your profile shown to expectant mothers who are expecting twins+, but other than that, I don't know that you'd be able to "request" them, per se, especially if those are the only types of placements you were willing to look at. Any restrictions you place on the type of situation you are open to can increase the amount of time you are waiting for an adoptive placement.
15 treatment cycles: four early m/c
Moving forward with domestic infant adoption!
Home study approved 5/13, now just waiting...
I don't think people "request" them... it's more a question of you being open or not to them.
This, in our work with agencies, we were asked what we were open to in terms of multiples.
