I was looking for suggestions on where to look for infant car seat covers. Is a specific cover necessary or does a blanket work just as good? We are registering for a Chicco Key Fit infant seat. We are due in January and the winters can be pretty cold where I live. Any suggestions would be great. TIA ladies!

Re: car seat covers or just use blankets?
We just used blankets. We already had eleventy-billion of them, so that was less that we had to buy (and wash, try not to lose, etc).
If you choose to go with a car seat cover, get a shower cap style that goes over the entire seat, so it doesn't interfere with the function of the seat itself.

We used a shower cap style cover too. We just picked one up at Walmart.

This exactly.
We used this one: https://www.amazon.com/JJ-Cole-Seat-Cover-Graphite/dp/B00511J6BM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1344633355&sr=8-5&keywords=jj+cole+bundle+me
It was great to know that he was always warm and I didn't have to make sure a side of the blanket didn't fly up. It was also great because it was like a little "pocket" to tuck things into (toys, bottles, pacifier, etc). I used a coupon and got mine for $20ish or a bit under. To me it's a must have.
Please make sure if you use a carseat cover that you get a shower cap - NOT THE JJ COLE BUNDLE ME (unless you cut the back out as seen here: https://thecarseatlady.blogspot.com/2011/01/bundle-me-everyone-uses-it-in-car-seat.html )
The JJ Cole Bundle me interfers with the safety of the carseat and voids your warrenty.
JJ Cole makes a shower cap as mentioned in pp

Same here, only that I live near the alps, in northern Italy; a blanket is more than enough
