Blood clot post c/s question

Hi ladies,

I am curious about something and maybe someone here can answer this.  I had y girls in December via c/s and was wondering how long after the surgery could a blood clot form??  I was checked in February because I was having some chest pains and shortness of breath.  The tests did not show any clots.  Tonight I have been having some slight feelings of a cool tingling type feeling in my calfs.  I have been having the tight chest and shortness of breath since January on and off.  So I don't know if that has anything to do with the c/s or if it asthma/allergy related.  I appreciate any responses.

Re: Blood clot post c/s question

  • well a blood clot can form anytime.  If you feel off I would call the dr.

     Here is my story:

I had my first daughter and had extremely bad chest neck and head pain during and after surgery.  I had trouble breathing and I went home with this horrible gasp.  It was so strange.  I do have asthma.  My pulmonologist was concerned and did a d dimer test on me....which came back positive, but it often does after pregnancy.  This is a blood test to see if you have a possiblitly of having a clot.  I then had a CT which confirmed my lungs were clear.  He still thinks I had a small clot that passed.  I had that gasp for three or four months.

Fast forward to having my second daughter.  Same thing happened, except I had better pain managment and got breathing treatments.  I did go home with a gasp but it only lasted a week.

I have since been diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease that in fact probably contributed to my breathing difficulties.  The whole thing was a big drawn out issue.  now I know for my next child :)

I would call your dr. and talk it over with them.  It may not even be a clot, but something else.  It is not something to take chances with :)  I have asthma and that is what my asthma does feel like, but I don't get much pain.  Feel better :)

  • Thanks. I have a feeling that my asthma or something like that is to blame for my breathing issues and tight chest.  I am skeptical that it is a blood clot since it is both of my legs that hurt.  From what I was reading it is usually just one leg.  I am going to be making an appointment with my doctor anyways.
