Every time someone asks me how old my baby is it tell the "he is 2 months old, adjusted, he was actually born in April...so he is 4 months"
I give all that explanation even to the mail man. I can't help it. I know that if I just say 2 months (his adjusted age) I'll be probably fine. Bc if I say he is 4 months then I'll get the whole "ohh he is so tiny blah blah".
And what would happen when he is one year old all of a sudden , at 10 month adjusted age?
What age do you give when people ask? I know it'll be easier once he is older. But now it is confusing.
Re: How old do you say your LO is?
Hahaha. Random strangers I tell them DD is 4 months old. She is failure to thrive and is very tiny (not even on the growth charts) for 8 months.
I still get people commenting on how tiny she is for 4 months. It is just not worth the ensuing conversation about her health issues to tell them the truth.
I say to everyone, including strangers, what her actual age is. Usually they say that she is so small and I then say that she is a 26 week preemie, so she's come a long way!

Adjusted, because my 26-weeker looked and acted closer to his adjusted age. For all practical purposes, he was like a baby of his adjusted age. It would be weird and confusing to use actual without explanation.
For my 35-weeker, I just used actual although he's behind, it's not as big of a gap.
I always give his actual age.
Now I say he's 16 mo and leave it at that unless I think they're sizing him up and I get insecure then I start babbling about being 10 weeks early.
Back then I'd usually say his adjusted age or just smile and say, "he's a NB." or go straight for the "but he came early."
^^ depended on my mood and if I was feeling social/talkative :P
I say actual because besides developmentally, every thing is calculated for his actual age.
When DS was a newborn/little I would say his actual age but then say "but he was 6+ wks early).
As he got older it became apparent that he didn't really have any delays so I got used to just saying his actual age
