C-sections

c-sections and a toddler?

okay so I am very paranoid I am going to have a c-section, just because the hospital near me is so c-section happy. Anyone else have a c-section with a toddler at home? How did it go. I am a single mom and I am scared I will be in too much pain to attend to her needs and chase her around.

Re: c-sections and a toddler?

  • Yes. My DS is 2 months old and DD is turning 2 tomorrow. DH was off of work from Wednesday (when I had my c-section) until the following Monday. He then went back to work. I choose not to have help at home. Everything went fine. DD was in a toddler bed by then so she was able to get in and out of bed by herself. The entire time I just made sure not to over do it and take it easy.

  • Depends how old and independent your toddler is. My first is three and can do most on his own. I was slow moving when I gor home, but caring for him would have been doable. The stairs are the main issue.

  • Thanks for posting this. I'll be checking back to see replies. I'm having a C-section this time and my son will be 23 months at the time and I'm a little worried about it.

  • I had my 2nd c-section when my first was just turning two.  For me the hardest part was getting him in and out of his crib for naps.  I put a stool there and he kind of climbed up and I helped him in, but did not lift him up and over.  It was definately do-able....but I think if you had a vag delivery with your first, than everything will be fine and you will have a vag delivery this time.  That is what I am hoping for for you anyway.  Good Luck.
