swelling question/vent

How much swelling is too much? I've had swelling since June especially with the crazy 90-100+ degree weather we've had all summer. Every time I go to the doctor, he feels my feet, doesn't seem to say much other than it's normal this late in pregnancy and with the heat. In the past month, my fingers have now started swelling, but he says that's normal too.

I've had the higher end of normal blood pressure and they continue to watch it because it's hovering right at the line of normal and worry. I was supposed to have an appointment tuesday but OB was called out on two deliveries and I had to reschedule for friday. I plan to mention the additional swelling then. But I'm wondering what experience others might have.

Some days it's painful and makes my waddle obvious. I've cut back on my salt intake, I drink more water, and sometimes lemon water but nothing seems to be working. I have many symptoms off and on over the past week that could indicate pre-e such as headaches mainly from the high blood pressure, occassional bright spots in vision, swelling of hands and feet...But my urine always comes back fine.

I'm hoping to get some questions answered friday but until then any thoughts?

Re: swelling question/vent

  • Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that if you have pre-e there will be protein in your urine.

My dr keeps doing the same thing with my swelling.  Really, there's not much they can do about it.

  • I just went to my Perinatologist and reg OB yesterday.  Because of the swelling in my feet/lower legs the P told me to put my feet up and rest as much as poss and no more walking.  He said swimming was ok.  My OB said she now wants to see me weekly.  My BP and urine were both fine.  My BP has always been on the lower side of normal and still is though.

I think the vision issue is important and IDK if its new for you but definitely important for you to mention to your doc. Good luck!
