We usually just stay in and cook, talk, laugh and get piss drunk. But one of my friends heard there may be wineries nearby but we can't find them, so I thought maybe some mountain Ga bumpies would know!!!!

The Cartecay river is fun for kayaking, if you're into that sort of thing. There is a really awesome hippie commune on the river that will rent you kayaks and pick you up at the end of the river and bring you back to their site. They rent their kayaks and run a free shuttle service and have a huge bonfire and cookout at night on the weekends. Fun stuff, good folks.
Eh, well, I wouldn't say there is a whole lot to do exactly. It's probably a bit early for leaf spotting which I guess is what a lot of people might go there for, besides the apples. North GA does have a few wineries around though not sure about any particular ones in Ellijay. If you're looking for things to do (as opposed to hanging out at a cabin in the mtns which is fun too) then you might want to reconsider going to Atlanta or even Chattanooga.
It really is pretty up there. And I think they might have a couple of cute restaurants. If you get really bored you would be close enough to the outlets. To do the wineries I think you would want to get a bus. Maybe google Dahlonega wineries or something? But I've had girls weekends like this and we never left the house and had a great time. Just ate and slept and drank, repeat.

Oh my gosh, that place looks amazing! Forget Cullman, I want to come on your girls' weekend! lol. Y'all are going to have a great time!
Mom to two beautiful girls and forever labor buddy to the fab lady MandaPanda518!

Ahh, totally makes sense then! Habersham Winery is the largest I know of in that area but it is in Sautee/Helen which isn't bad but not right there. If you want other things to do, you can go pan for gold (ha ha!) in Dahlonega or there is a huge outlet mall in Dawsonville.

Re: Anyone live around Ellijay, GA?
I don't know anything about that town, sorry, but that just seems like a super random place to go for a girls' weekend.
Like me saying "We're going to Cullman, AL, for a girls' weekend! Yay!" lol. You probably don't know Cullman. Nobody does. That's the point.
But, according to Wikipedia, they have an apple festival during the second and third weeks in October. You should go then. That sounds like a rager!
ETA: you might have more luck on the GA board.
LOL!!! Well, we are a super random bunch!!! We usually go to the beach but wanted to go to the mountians and we found this amazing house!

I've also been to some festivals in that area as well.
Other than kayaking, fishing and drinking, not much to do. It's a nice area, though!

I live 30 minutes away from Ellijay.
Wanna come visit?
We can pan for gold all day and poop in the woods.
